Mother's Day Card

I made my own Mother's Day cards this year, and I am so pleased with the results. Sometimes I finish a card and I'm like...eh its decent, but I really like these. A happy early Mother's Day to all the mommies out there!

If you're reading this Mom, which you probably are...your surprise is ruined. Sorry.

Paper Flowers

I've been away for a while, vacationing in San Francisco. I will have a serious amount of photos I will posting as soon as I collect them from all parties. So stay tuned for that business.

In the meantime I came across a tutorial for making pretty paper flowers. There are several different styles out there and I've tried them all. I never saw this one before and I like it because the flowers
still have dimension but are flat so you can attach them to a card to send in the mail, or they would
be great for scrap booking. I made mine into cute magnets for the fridge. They are super easy,
I suggest you give it a try!

Our neighborhood

I just want to share a few photos with you from my neighborhood while walking the dog this morning.

It's hard to distinguish between seasons here in Florida because it's either warm or really f@"$ing hot! One thing that reminds me that spring is approaching are the flowering trees. Here are a couple that I saw today.

What's blooming in your neighborhood?

In Bloom

Our rose bushes are in full bloom!  Nathan cut a few and brought them in the house for me. I have the sweetest husband in the world!  They smell delicious!

A Continued Adventure

I tried out a different approach on the fabric train I've been riding lately. This one was made from some scraps of fabric in my bin. I cut various sizes of circles, and then glued them onto some felt & added some embellishments & chain. Click To Zoom & Enjoy!

Blossoms From The Bosom

Etsy has been my inspiration for many projects, and this one I'm sharing today is no exception. I've done different styles of jewelry making, and got the bug to work with some lovely fabric scraps. The first image is my inspiration. The second is my version.

Awesome Right! I just love how this came out and I can't wait to make more. They are indeed time consuming so don't even think about asking for one unless you show me the money! Haha They would
make great Christmas gifts perhaps?

Want to try it out for yourself? Here's a tutorial I found to make mine: http://createanddelegate.blogspot.com/2010/04/tutorial-shabby-fabric-roses.html

Her blog is great if you're a crafty nut like me. Very inspiring!

Time To Fly!

I'm leaving for the North in a couple days and am very excited! It's so great to see family and friends. Also we will be attending one of my best friends wedding..Ed & Angela.

Things That Made Me Happy Today

-Getting a haircut. A new girl "Joy" was my stylist today since my old one left. She is AMAZING! She did such a great job, I will forever be her client. This salon is super cool...it's all decked out in Rock-a-billy decor, and all the people are super cool. If I wasn't a designer I would have considered going into Cosmetology. I always love different hairstyles. Unique stuff.

-Borrowing Dustins car because its 110º outside and the air conditioning died in my car last winter. Bah. I would have melted like a record in the oven if it wasn't for him. In return, I filled his tank back up and brought him a 6-pack. It's great having best friends in the neighborhood, we help each other with favors all the time, and randomly show up when dinner is ready. haha. Love Dustin and Laura, they're good people.

-Made some paper flowers in replace of the real ones that keep dying. As much as I love creating digital art, I love working with my hands. Usually when I'm done, my hands are either covered in paint, or sticking together with glue.

-Feeling better today. I had the start of a cold on Monday, but have somehow won the battle against the boogie monster that invaded my nasal cavity.

-Made dinner with Nathan. We ate some left-overs tonight, but prepared a feast of beef stew for tomorrow night. I love slow cooker meals.

-Had time to design some Etsy Web Banners. I plan to sell these in my Etsy shop too.

-Finally...time to snuggle my best friend. Bella Monster. Love that poop machine.

Holiday Weekend

Its been a while since my last post, so I thought I would share what's in store for the weekend. We never plan ahead for the 4th of July, it always just turns out that we find something fun to do. Last year we spent the day on our friends boat which LOTS of people do all holiday weekend.  I think this year we will probably just spend our day at the beach, and watch fireworks from there with friends, I'm sure all along the beach line people will be lighting them up. What do you usually do?

Last weekend we went to a Wine & Cheese party which turned out to be pretty fun. The crowd was mainly from Nathans leadership program, and their significant others. I even got to wear my new dress!

The photo is crappy, it was taken with photo booth (my web cam for you non-mac users). But you get the idea. Alloy.com was having a sale, and I couldn't resist. I spend most of my summers in dresses or skirts, because it's so hot here. I haven't worn jeans since April! haha.

Here is another cute photo of my Bella, whenever I'm in my art room she's always tagging along behind me, usually laying on the floor or looking out the window for lizards.

Most people post pictures of their kids and brag about how they have the "cutest baby in the whole world" and of course believe it to be true. Well, I'm posting pics of my dog baby, and she is the cutest dog in the whole world. It bothers me that Pit Bulls have such a negative label, and especially when someone asks me what she is and I tell them she's a pit mix, and people proceed to tell me how violent, and mean they are.  Bella is such a gentle sweet girl. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body. All she wants out of the world is to be cuddled, and to play with her neighborhood doggies. Oh and chase lizards. She would never hurt anyone. I'm so lucky we found each other, she's my best friend.

On another note, I bought my tickets to fly up north to Michigan today. My best guy friend Ed is getting married, so we are going to be there for him. I am leaving a week earlier than Nathan so I can spend some time at home with my Mom too. I am very excited to be home with her and make a mess of her craft room. She is also letting me take some of her beads, which I am SUPER excited about, because she has a great collection, and I can't buy them as often as I'd like, due to how much they cost! I'm also looking forward to just chilling on the porch, and picking fresh veggies from her new garden. There's no place like home, or should I say there's no place like being with my mom.

I will leave you with this....my new flowers for the week. Purple Spider Mums!!!! Mums are my favorite, i was ecstatic when I found this bundle. Have a Great 4th Bloggers!

Bloomin' Barrettes

Lately with the warm days approaching, I've been inspired by all the new spring flowers popping up. I decided to look through my bin of fabrics and create some flowers. Initially I was going to glue pins on the back to wear with plain tank-tops, instead I glued some of my barrette clips on the back to wear in my hair. Headbands with flowers and feathers are really in right now, but I just don't like the feeling of headbands, they tend to hurt after a couple hours. These are so cute and I love wearing them. A nice addition to a boring outfit!

I also paint!

I paint, but not your traditional art. As a graphic designer you can imagine how in love I am with graphics...I wanted to paint them to hang on my walls. You'll have to forgive the low quality of the photos, I'm not really good at taking pictures. Some of the images I designed in Illustrator. I printed them, and used a projector on the wood and painted them. Others I just free-hand drew. Anyway, I'm addicted to doing this it's so much fun. Enjoy!
