45-56 was my number

This is England '86 is one of the shows of this season (for me). It's only 4 episodes, but it continues with the story of Shaun and all his gang of friends, who are now adults searching their place on earth.

It's good, really good. I mean, it doesn't talk a lot about the skinheads, it's only the stories of a gang of people searching for their future. A 16-years-old Shaun, who has to find a job and himself; Woody, who still is in love with Lol; the solitary Milky, Smell and her gothic dresses, Gadget and his road to adulthood...

We also can know a little bit more about Kelly, Lol's sister; Trev, Banjo or Meggy; and Harvey is a character that you can see in the film for less than 5 minutes but that is one of my favourite ones here.

It's strange see a tv serie about the 80s. I mean, it's normal seeing series from the 80s, but it's less normal a serie ABOUT that decade. It makes me feel nostalgic, but also makes me smile. In that time I was only 5 years, and I guess if life in England was like that... for what I know, almost everything it's true (I asked about it when I was living there during two summers).

If you're not following the show, I must say that it ends next week... and belive me, you shoul do it. It's really really good :)

Today I started and the shop and met Matt, a lovely guy from L.A. who's there for helping us with the visual merchandising of the shop. He's so cute and I really had fun with him; I'll try to make a picture tomorrow, because you must meet him!
And after work, I had a coffee with Esther, Deborah and my beloved Nati, who's leaving to Bonn next week... I'll miss her so much!

So, the ocassion was special, and I dressed with my Ben Sherman stuf for them:

I hope you all had a great Tuesday, now I'm off to bed because I'm a little bit tired... I'll catch up all your blogs tomorrow!

Recipe of the Week - BBQ Gluten

This week I am a little late on the Recipe of the Week, so I am pushing the OT Tip to tomorrow.

This week's recipe of BBQ Gluten "Steaks" from the recipe book, Of These Ye May Freely Eat by JoAnn Rachor.

Gluten

1 1/2 cups mashed, water packed firm or extra firm Mori Nu tofu (health food section of your grocery store).
1/3 c. water
1/4 c. quick  or rolled oats
1/4 c. wheat germ (health food section)
1/4 c. Brewer's Yeast Flakes (health food store)
1/4 c. soy sauce
1 Tb onion power
1 Tb. basil
2 tsp. garlic powder
1 1/2 tsp. sage
2 c. gluten flour (health food section)

Stir ingredients together, adding the flour after all else is mixed. Pinch off 1 1/2 tablespoons dough. Roll into a ball. Flatten into patties 1/4 inch thick. Pre-heat and oiled, non stick skillet on medium heat. Brown 8-10 minutes, turning after 3-4 minutes.

BBQ Sauce

3 1/2 c. water
1 c. finely chopped onion
1 c. tomato paste
3/4 c. lemon juice
2 Tb. olive oil
1/2 c. honey
2 Tb. molasses
1 Tb. onion powder
2 tsp. garlic powder
2 tsp. salt

Stir ingredients together. Pour into a 9x13 baking dish. Add gluten. Cover with foil. Carefully place in the oven. Bake at 350 for 60 minutes.

My husband liked these a lot better than the other kind I make in the broth that cook for 2 hours. So I was glad to find this recipe! :)

Enjoy and happy cooking! Be sure to link up below with your recipes!

Corned Beef Hash with Fried Eggs

I imagine that when a woman comes home late from a hard day at work, or if she's getting some alone time after spending all day with the kids, she is kicking off her shoes, maybe running a bath, pouring a glass of wine and soaking away her troubles.  Dinner on evenings like that might range from a bowl of ice cream to a plate of spinach, something easy, something quick, something thoughtless.  A guy will do the exact same thing, only in ways to which guys relate.  Instead of the tub it's the couch.  Instead of a glass of wine, it's a bottle of beer.  Instead of a People Magazine, it's Monday Night Football.

For dinner, an exhausted or brain-dead man can eat a bowl of cereal standing over the sink, but for me at least, it's hard to drink beer with cereal.  Lucky Charms and Coors Light just doesn't work (yes, I do still find youthful joy in kids cereal).  However, I do like breakfast for dinner, both for its ease and its comfort factor.  I also find that eggs and bacon, with their savory and salty tastes, match well with a beer.  A higher form of breakfast comfort for me is corned beef hash.  Since this is a night for quick and easy, I'm not talking about some gourmet recipe where you might actually make the hash, or get creative with alternative ingredients.  I'm talking straight from the can, baby.  I also love to crack a couple of eggs in the hash and cook them right in there.  Cutting into the cooked hash you can get a little of the egg yolk to run out, helping to coat surrounding hash.  Now that's good eating.  So, while joy in the form of a simmer sauce can come from a jar, and happiness in the form a cold beer can come from a bottle, sometimes, especially in the case of hash, true love comes from a can.  Serves 2.

Ingredients:
1 can corned beef hash
4 eggs

Directions:
Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.  Add the corned beef hash, breaking it up into pieces and stirring occasionally.  When the hash starts to brown, make a couple of small voids in the hash and add the eggs to each.  Allow to cook a few minutes and then flip the portion of the hash with the eggs.  Cook a few minutes more to desired doneness, covering during the cooking if a harder yolk is desired.
