An Alternative Thanksgiving .....

So maybe you cant get turkey but how about trying working with what you got. Mushrooms Chestnuts Squash Pumpkin Persimmons.
Here is what I came up with Chestnut soup, Poached Asian chicken on a bed of mushrooms and bok choy with persimmon sauce and Pumpkin pie mouse .
For the recipes check out the Gwangju news.

I prefer transform the red Halloween pumpkin in this way…

"Ficatu di sette cannola." (Pumpkin in sweet and sour)
“Liver of the Sette cannola neighbourhood”

This is a dish of the "palermitana poor cuisine". It was born from the processing of a more "rich" dish, cooked by the Monsù (refined chefs who cooked for the noble French), the main ingredient of this dish was liver (breaded and fried).

Probably in the neighborhood of “sette cannola”, where the poorest people rarely ate meat (though it was offal), some good housewives of Palermo came to know of this delicious dish and so decided to reinvent itself, replacing the liver with a cheaper ingredient, pumpkin red. The result will envy the best Monsù!

500 grams of red pumpkin, olive oil, 1 teaspoon sugar, 2 tablespoons of vinegar, 2 cloves of garlic, mint, pepper, salt

Peel the pumpkin and remove the red part with the seeds (if you like, the seeds can be dried in the sun and transformed into what we call "semenza"). Cut it into slices and a cm thick. Fry the pumpkin slices in olive oil on a slow fire, turned gently (will take a brown color). Add the cloves of garlic cut into slices. When the pumpkin are just fried, you must remove the excess oil, raise the heat, and pour over the vinegar (which will be done dissolve a teaspoon of sugar). When vinegar has evaporated, put them in a plate and add salt, pepper and especially mint leaves. Let cool is more tasty!

I'm hungry.....

...These days, we always see zombies looking for fresh flesh...

But Zombies are getting tired of eating too much raw flesh...

Oh think about it... Halloween... they need a good dessert for smiling up again...

So I asked Inma to cook some typical desserts from her home: Catalunya. So she asked me: "Are you crazy? Do you want to feed those killer zombies? " , and I say: "Yes, everybody deserve the right to try new things, although most of us think they are pretty dangerous...". "Ok ok"-she answered me... I'll cook for them...

And here is the result:

PANELLETS, CASTAÑAS y BONIATOS (PANELLETS, CHESTNUTS and SWEET POTATOES)

If you look closely at them, you could see that there are 2 types of Panellets: the ones made of Coconut and the other ones made of Pine Kernels.

They are very typical in Catalonia these days, even Zombies like it:

So, remember, if a zombie is knocking up your door, maybe he/she doesn't want your hand. Be ready with a tray full of delicious and veggy Panellets. Here's the recipe:

Thanks Inma! You saved me this Halloween of being a bit more ugly and bloody than now...

Octopus soup

This place is good if you like hot soup. Spicy hot .
Its about 2 doors down from the Galbi Jim restaurant . Its maybe a 5 min walk from MacDs

Sides are good and the soup is great and I am not the greatest fan of octopus but this is good again I warn you its hot :)
