pelangi petang

dear blog,

this is especially for u. i made it with all my heart...
i made it using 'paint' & it is my first drawing of the year.
i know it looks like i'm 4 years old, but. this is it.

i tried to imagine a capture of a rainbow over the sea.
so, here's a sea & rainbow. '-____-''

PELANGI PETANG

Kumeniti awan yang kelabu. Kutempuhi lorong yang berliku
Mencari sinar yang menerangi, Kegelapanku

Kupercaya pasti suatu masa. Sang suria kan menyinar jua
Membawa harapan yang menggunung
Bersamanya...

Engkau tiba bagaikan pelangi.Tak bercahya namun kau berseri
Tapi cukup menghiburkan, Hati ini

Seharian waktu bersamamu. Tak terasa saat yang berlalu
Bagai pelangi petang kau kan pasti, Pergi jua...

dear blog,

sy si pelangi. yg gemar akan pelangi.
perangai seakan pelangi, sukar dijangka, bermacam ragam.
sy harap sy menjadi pelangi untuk semua org dlm hidup sy.

tp... *bertakung air mata*
tlg, jgn jd pelangi dlm hidup sy, jgn tinggal sy.
jgn gembirakan sy kemudian mebiarkan sy menangis...
tlg, jd... si mentari itu? tolong ya.

sincerely,
rainbow

Happy Birthday Jamie Oliver

James Trevor Oliver. Born 3 years ahead of me on May 27. Today another birthday greeting to the man I call genius and with a golden heart. His enormous passion for food and to help other people with the food they eat are the things that I will always admire about Jamie. I am more than just a fan of him, I am someone who looks up to him in a different way. I support him not just because he was known as this cute guy from famous TV shows in Great Britain. I admire him more than the skin he wears, but the inner being in him. I am here on the other side of the planet just watching his life and how he lives it. From his school dinners, ministry of food to the food revolution campaign, I triumphantly rejoice in every victory he makes.

Aside from his talent and passion for cooking, he is also blessed with three lovely daughters and now his wife Jools is on her way to their fourth child. I am wishing him today on his birthday that he will finally have a little Jamie in few months time. Hopefully. There's so much about Jamie that I really like, like being the drummer to his band called Scarlet Division. That is really something. More than cooking, he can also give us his head-banging drum talent. My everyday life is totally inspired by him. A simple smile when I see him on TV, when I browse his website and when I get news from him really makes my day complete. The best thing that happened to me this year was when he gave me a personal message on my twitter and followed me at the same time. He acknowledged me as his number one fan in the Philippines. He just told me in his message that he read my blog and also told me also to keep it up the good work! He just inspires me everyday that I should never give up my dreams and believe that one day everything will turn into reality--and that includes meeting him in person :-)

Let me just share this simple dessert recipe I prepared for my Idol. This was inspired by his recipe on how to make Strawberry Jam. Instead I made apple jam that was simmered with Shiraz and matched with French Vanilla Ice Cream.

APPLE SHIRAZ JAM

Ingredients:

• Apples (cut into cubes)
• Shiraz Red Wine
• Brown Sugar
• Vanilla
• Cinnamon
• French Vanilla Ice Cream
• Water
• Butter (of course)

Procedure:

Heat pan with butter, then add the sugar. Allow it to caramelized then add the Shiraz. Once it dissolves, add vanilla, cinnamon and water. Next thing to do is to add the diced apples. Cover pan. Allow it to boil and let the apples simmer until it softens. When the apples are soft for sure the liquid will thicken. When everything is ok, ready a small plate put some scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream then plate it with this very nice apple shiraz jam recipe. For me, I had my cube French Vanilla Ice Cream given to me by my Russian friend Mischuin Zolot.

Jamie, enjoy this one head-banging birthday dessert for you!!!

Happy BIRTHDAY Jamie :-)

LeLook conference: What's vintage?

Today, Laia and I went to a conference organized by LeLook, the fashion Observatory from Barcelona... and this are the most important things that they said:

What's Vintage?

The word vintage comes from the world of oenology; and it's used to define a wine of excellent quality. Today, this word is apply in so many things that doesn't have anything in common with the wines; in fashion is used to define clothes that are from different eras, from the early 20s to the latest 70s, and even the 80s.
But in big words, something vintage should be something delightful
 Doriane,  from www.parisvintage.net
Africa, from Lullaby
my favourite vintage shop at Barcelona (she's a lovely woman!)

Some of the speakers said that a vintage thing must be expensive, but some others argued about that, just because it depends of the people you're selling the clothes, the brand of the piece, etc. But the truth is that, this kind of clothes has got a unique quality and pattern that, nowadays it's so difficult to find (specially with the 20s and 30s clothes).

So, to summarise this, something vintage is a wonderful piece that aging in a good way, with a unique fabric and making, and transmit something (maybe emotional, from the first owner, for example).

When did the Vintage started?

They talked about Biba, a shop in London with a decoration that reminds to the 20s; and bout some films that were based in the 20s, 30s and 40s; with this inspiration, people started to look "old" things from this eras, vintage things.

In Spain the movement maybe started about 10-15 years ago, but today, as in the rest of the world, the word vintage is in fashion, but not everything that is focus with this word is true vintage.

This trend could be a fashion itself, but the vintage trend is like a wave, that comes and goes away. Nowadays it's crowed, but this can change again, as it has happened before.

So we can say that, these days, the word vintage is in fashion, but not the real concept.

Why people buy Vintage things today?

In times of globalization and crisis, some people wants to be seen like different, and the vintage clothes and complements makes you get that different point from the mainstream without spending so much money. The future is unwritten, and sometimes is scary; but the past gives uns some kind of secutiry that we want; and contains lots of elegance; so we can say that we're looking for some elegance too when we buy vintage things.

Another factor is the quality of the clothes, as I said before; and the good quality clothes never are old fashioned.

And another one is the point of the mainstream: if a model, actress or idol buys something vintage, people would look after something similar, so that's why the people of the mainstream goes to the vintage shops, not only the vintage lover.

What's the future of Vintage?

There always would be people who look to the past for inspiration. Even the big brands, as Balenciaga, reissue old of their emblematic clothes for keep the glamour of the fashion company. But the truth is that the future is so uncertain for the real vintage, because the clothes of the big mainstream of today are made of a regular or poor quality, so they can't last forever. And the good ones, sometimes, goes for the family heritage.

So, for the second hand clothes, the future shines... but for the real vintage (as all the vintage thinsg are second hand but no all the second hand clothes are vintage) the future is not so clear.

So these are the conclusions that I took from this great conference! I hope you liked them, thanks for reading!!

At the end of it, there was a little fashion show with six models, here you've got them:

And a little bit of the party after the show :)

I meet Maria (again, it was the second time I saw her) and Fer, they're both lovely!

And now, what I was wearing today ;)!

Dress - Topshop
Cardigan - Zara
Socks - Calzedonia
Shoes - Vintage
Hat - Oysho
Bag - Amsterdam

It's funny, everybody though that my dress was vintage!

I hope you all had a lovely wednesday! Thanks for reading, for your comments... oh, and for the comments in the last entry about inspiration and originality of the bloggers!!

Auf Wiedersehen Switzerland, Ciao Italy!

This morning we found our way to the Interlaken Ost train station and started the longest ride of our trip. I never tired of train travel though. There was always something going on or someone to watch. :D
We arrived in Monterosso, one of the towns on the Cinque Terre, in the afternoon. It's also right on the Mediterranean Sea. We love the sea!

One more short train ride took us to the town where we were to stay the night - Manarola, my favorite of the five.

On our way up to the hostel...

The foliage was incredibly beautiful and varied. Gotta love those stairs!

Gelato! The best in town....yes, we know. :D

Ostello 5 Terre

That's a lemon tree right there! They were all over the place with huge yellow lemons hanging temptingly from their branches.

These beds were sooooo comfy!

The view from our room windows. Our room mates were from Vancouver and Switzerland. We had fun chatting with them.
We walked back down the street to the water... a short cut...

Just loved all the boats!

...and found dinner along the way. Yum! Focaccia bread!

More boats!

After our little picnic, took a vineyard walk along the trail that runs above the town to the cemetery.

The town cemetery from the hill.

Sunset that night.

The Italians light up this "Life of Christ" scene at night all year round, from what I understand. It's on the vineyard hill near our hostel. For some reason, our camera wouldn't focus very well that night, but the pictures are still neat.
