Auf Wiedersehen Switzerland, Ciao Italy!

This morning we found our way to the Interlaken Ost train station and started the longest ride of our trip. I never tired of train travel though. There was always something going on or someone to watch. :D
We arrived in Monterosso, one of the towns on the Cinque Terre, in the afternoon. It's also right on the Mediterranean Sea. We love the sea!

One more short train ride took us to the town where we were to stay the night - Manarola, my favorite of the five.

On our way up to the hostel...

The foliage was incredibly beautiful and varied. Gotta love those stairs!

Gelato! The best in town....yes, we know. :D

Ostello 5 Terre

That's a lemon tree right there! They were all over the place with huge yellow lemons hanging temptingly from their branches.

These beds were sooooo comfy!

The view from our room windows. Our room mates were from Vancouver and Switzerland. We had fun chatting with them.
We walked back down the street to the water... a short cut...

Just loved all the boats!

...and found dinner along the way. Yum! Focaccia bread!

More boats!

After our little picnic, took a vineyard walk along the trail that runs above the town to the cemetery.

The town cemetery from the hill.

Sunset that night.

The Italians light up this "Life of Christ" scene at night all year round, from what I understand. It's on the vineyard hill near our hostel. For some reason, our camera wouldn't focus very well that night, but the pictures are still neat.
