I felt like Dorothy coming back to Oz (The Brandery & Fitting Room Bcn)

My second day at The Brandery was full of good things. First of all, I met some great people at Bcn Fitting Room, like Lucía Zapata, the great photographer who took that first picture above! And I'm also featured on her blog, Unique People! Have a look at it 'cause I really find it so interesting!
I met Rosanna from Moda a mi modo; María Galán from Miss Patty, Irma from Chocolate & Weddings or Arantxa from Aires Nuevos and BCN Fashion Meeting.

But let's start by the beginning... I arrived early to The Brandery BCN and had a look to the lovely collection of Poupée Chic, full of colors and lovely things... you see, it's totally my kind of clothes! Charo, one of the designers, explained me that all the prints are handmade and they try to create a unique and funny fashion for daily use. I think I would use every single piece of their collection!

After this, I went to Mürfila's benefit concert, organized by YO Donna... here you can see some pictures, it was really goo and Mürfila is very friendly, I must say!

And then, I went to Fitting Room Barcelona, in wich a discovered one of the most lovely brands I've ever seen: Azpeleta&Martínez. I met Susana in their room, a gorgeous woman with an exquisite fashion taste, I must say. And they had lots of lovely heart-coockies and a cake, yummy!

And after Fitting Room... I had the pleasure of seeing (again) Nouvelle Vague on concert! I really love this band, and their lives are always funny and full of great music. Here you can see some pictures I took at the concert and a few more of that day.

And my look of that day!

(IMC) Karivan

The first time I have heard of (IMC) Karivan, I thought to myself... what kind of restaurant is this?  I did my research in google and found out that IMC means International Master Chef ... and that Karivan Lau is the Chef and owner of the restaurant.  It is mainly Cantonese/Fusion.

It was that time of the month again.... hahahaha ... not what you are thinking  but time for a luncheon with Tita Portia and the friends of my mom.   We have decided to try (IMC) Karivan along Jupiter St., just  beside Chicken Bacolod and Bel-Air 2 gate yesterday.

It is just a small restaurant so if you are a big group, make reservations.  Good thing I did, the place was packed.

There is a newspaper article posted in their entrance so we tried what was written in the article.  Whenever we have lunch with the friends of my mom,  Tita Portia and I would have our own bill and the others pay for their own.  We can not do a five way split because my Tita and I always order more food than the rest.

We ordered their version of Takoyaki.

I had a cup of Rainbow Seafood  Soup - yes, you can order 1 cup only.

Tita Butchie chose the Pork Belly casserole ... I did not check out the name from the menu.

Tita Mita got the shrimp bomb -  it's like shrimp balls with cheese inside on a bed of crispy fried Kailan.

We also tried the crisp vegetables.  Indeed the veggies were crisp but I prefer more flavor.

Deep Fried Shrimp Temaki

Deep fried prawns wrapped in misua noodles.

Beijing Style pork

It is deep fried battered pork wrapped in pancake with with hoisin sauce, cucumber, leeks and carrot strips.  I make a better version which is my Pritchon.

We just ordered 2 cups of Yang Chow fried rice, one for me and one for Tita Portia.

I would give this dish a thumbs up.  The taste reminded me of the fried rice I used to order from Chinese restaurants.  Nowadays, the yang chow from Chinese restos seem to be so bland and oily.

We had the Mango Sago Pomelo for dessert and we were also given complimentary dessert - red bean soup.

They also have dim sum which I plan to try the next time I am in the area.

Hmmmm .... did I like the food?  I do not know what to say.  It was good, nothing bad about it.  I just forgot, I do not like to eat anything fried.  Still a lot to choose from the menu.  I am not giving up and will give this restaurant another chance.

A special shout out to Janna, our waitress ... she was very good and solicitous.  I wish more food servers are like  her.

BLACKENED CHICKEN

Ingredients:
Chicken breasts ... 4 (boneless)
Mayonnaise ... . 1 cup
Red chilli powder ... 1 tsp.
Garlic paste .... 1 tsp.
Dried thyme ..... 1 tsp. ( you can use any other herb if you don't have thyme)
Lemon juice ..... 1 tbsp.
Vinegar ....... 2 tbsp.
Sugar .......... 4 tsp.
Salt .... 1 & 1/2 tsp. (divided)

Method:
1. In a bowl, combine chilli powder, 1 tsp sugar, 1 tsp salt, garlic, thyme and lemon juice. Sprinkle these spice powders over both sides of the chicken. Set aside.
2. In another bowl, combine mayonnaise, vinegar and the remaining sugar and salt. Cover and chill. Use half of it for basting and the remaining for serving with the chicken.
3. Grill the chicken, basting several times on both sides until done ( 20 - 25 mins)
4. Serve with the reserved sauce.

"I wasn't everything you ever wanted" Oh PLease...

I notice that many people post this statement online " I'm sorry I wasn't everything you ever wanted. "

To me, this translate that your not able to meet to that other persons expectation... whether its on romantic relationships, friendship or even work. I can relate that when you care for some-one, you want them to get the best, and recognize you for it. Even more so, if you have deep feelings or even love for them. and It does give some positive outcome, were you push yourself to be a better person...

at the same time, we allow that other person to take over out self-perseption. I mean,  " I'm sorry I wasn't everything you ever wanted. " is like saying "Im not giving what you wanted" or "I'm not saying what you want to hear" or "I'm not doing what you want me to do" ... if you step back and look at this few sentences,  you can notice that it seems like your living your life for them...

If a person was to like you, as a friend, team or even lovers, Its because of you... and not for who you should be. I mean, so modifications are good to improve yourself. STILL its the original you that Matters.

For me, rather then saying " I'm sorry I wasn't everything you ever wanted. "  choice to say it this way " Im Sorry, for you did not notice what is in-front of you right now" I know it sounds like ... WHAT???....
But if you think about it and see the difference, you will notice the 2nd sentence is saying that....
Hey, stop expecting something i"m not, and see and love what i am. for I am beautiful for being ME.

Love yourself, for you are Beautiful and AWESOME.
