MANGO LASSI


Ingredients:
Mango pieces ......... 1 cup
Curd / yogurt ........ 1 cup ( use fresh curd )
Water ..................... 3 cups
Honey or rose syrup ... 2-3 tbsp Check according to the sweetness of the mango)

Method:
Blend the mango and yogurt adding water and honey or rose syrup ( I prefer rose syrup..it really tastes good)
Refrigerate and serve chilled. Pour into the glasses and garnish with rose syrup.

MANGO SUBMARINE


Ingredients:
Mango pulp - 2 -3 tbsp.
Rose syrup - 2 tbsp. ( according to the size of the glass)
Lemon juice - 1 tsp.
Any lemony drink - I have used Nimbooz ( 7Up )

Method:
1. Pour the rose syrup in a glass and mix the lemon juice.
2. Spoon out the mango pulp carefully over it.
3. Tilt the glass and pour the lemony drink carefully on the side . The mango pulp has to float on top. (Stir it while drinking.)
Serve chilled.

MINTY PINEAPPLE JUICE


Ingredients:
Pineapple .... 1
Mint leaves ... 1 sprig ( 7-8 leaves)
Sugar ............ 1-2 tbsps. ( as per your taste)
Water ............ 2 glasses

Method:
1. Peel and cut pineapple into pieces ( use half of it for 2 glasses)
2. Blend all the ingredients and strain the juice.
3. Serve chilled.

POMEGRANATE & GRAPE JUICE


Ingredients:
Pomegranate .... 1
Grapes ..............1 bunch ( 10-12)
Sugar ............... 1 tsp.
Rock salt ......... 1/4 tsp.
Roasted jeera powder ... a pinch
Lime juice .................... 1 tsp.

Method:
1. Remove the pomegranate seeds. Blend in a mixer along with the grapes adding 1 & 1/2 to 2 cups water.
2. Strain the juice and stir in the sugar, salt, cumin powder and lime juice.
Serve chilled.

KARELA & CORIANDER JUICE



Karela ( bitter gourd ), as we all know, has lot of medicinal properties and is very rich in iron. One should try to consume some amount of karela in our diet, especially those suffering with diabetes.
The juice of coriander( also known as cilantro) is beneficial in producing vitamin A, B1, B2, C and iron. It is also highly beneficial in treating digestive disorders such as indigestion, nausea, dysentery, hepatitis and colitis.
Here is a recipe with the blend of both the juices. Some people find it difficult to consume karela juice because of the bitter taste, but when blended with coriander, lime and salt it is not as bad as we think.

Ingredients:
Karela .... 1
Coriander leaves ... handful
Lime juice ........ 1-2 tbsps. ( as per your taste)
Salt .................. 1/2 tsp.
Water ............... 1 small glass.

Method:
1. Wash and cut the karela into pieces.( do not peel)
2. Blend it with all the above ingredients.
3. Strain and serve chilled.

LASSI / CHAAS / BUTTERMILK


A perfect cooler in summer. This flavourful lassi is also good for digestion. This is the recipe of my maid Valli ( Chennai ). I miss her and all the yummy food she used to cook for us.

Ingredients:
Curd .............. 1 cup
Water ............ 5-6 cups
Cumin seeds ... 1/4 tsp. ( roasted and crushed)
Black pepper powder .. 1/8 tsp.
Asafoetida ................. a pinch
Ginger juice ........... 1 tbsp. ( grate the ginger and squeeze out the juice)
Coriander leaves ... 1 tbsp. ( crushed)
Mint leaves ........... 4-5 ( crushed)
Salt ................... to taste

Method:
Blend/churn the lassi with water and add all the ingredients mentioned above.
Refrigerate and serve chilled.

WATERMELON GINGER JUICE



Ingredients:
Watermelon pieces ... 4 cups
Water ......................... 2 cups
Sugar ...................... 1 tbsp.
Salt ....................... 1/4 tsp.
Ginger ................ 1/2 inch piece
Mint leaves ....... 4-5
Roasted cumin powder .. 1.4 tsp.
Black pepper powder .... a pinch
Lemon juice ......... 1 tsp.
Method:
1. Peel and cut the watermelon into pieces. Remove the seeds.
2. Peel and cut the ginger into pieces.
3. Blend all the above ingredients in a mixer adding water and strain the juice.
4. Add the lime juice and serve chilled.
This juice is very refreshing in summer.

APPLE & GOOSEBERRY JUICE


Ingredients:
Apples .......... 1
Gooseberries.. 8-10
Mint leaves ... 4-5
Sugar ........... 1-2 tsp ( optional)
Water .......... 2-3 cups.
Method:
1. Blend the fruits adding water, sugar and mint leaves.
2. Strain and serve chilled.
3. Garnish with mint leaves and a gooseberry.
