Perth Sheriff Court heard on Thursday that the heroin was found during a search of Smith's cell. The heroin addict had agreed to smuggle the drugs into the prison to pay off debts to drug dealers, the court heard.
Smith, of Fintryside, Dundee, admitted being concerned in the supply of heroin at Perth Prison on February 25 this year and was remanded in custody pending sentence.
